Fountain Valley, CA, December 11, 2014: Tonight the Fountain Valley School Board voted to dedicate the headquarters of the Fountain Valley School District in honor of retiring Superintendent Marc Ecker, Ph.D.  The dedication ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 3 p.m. at the offices at 10055 Slater Avenue in Fountain Valley.

Dr. Ecker has been Superintendent of the Fountain Valley School District since 1996.  Previously, he had been principal of Fulton School, Masuda School, and Talbert School and served in other administrative roles including Assistant Superintendent for Business Services, dedicating over 35 years to the education of the children of the Fountain Valley School District.

“Marc Ecker has been our Superintendent for over 18 years, making it impossible to describe all he has accomplished for our students and community.  His top focus has always been on student success, and we are now consistently the top-achieving elementary school district in Orange County.   Families want their children to attend our schools to benefit from that success,” said Fountain Valley School Board President Ian Collins.

“The community also benefits from his prudent fiscal stewardship,” explained Christine Fullerton, Chief Budget Officer for the Fountain Valley School District.  “He helped establish an endowment fund that stabilizes the finances of our school district. The Chevron solar energy partnership will save money on energy, permitting taxpayer dollars to focus more on the classrooms.  The district office itself – which is being dedicated in his honor – is both efficient and generates additional revenue to support our local schools.”

The dedication ceremony will begin promptly at 3 pm on Thursday, December 18 and is open to the public.  There is additional parking in back of the building at 10055 Slater Avenue in Fountain Valley.
