The Fountain Valley School District serves students from Tk-8th grade. We encourage students to attend their designated neighborhood "home" school based on their home address. If you're uncertain about your child's home school, please use our School Locator for assistance (School Locator Site).

Please note that Fountain Valley High School is not part of the Fountain Valley School TK-8 District. If you are interested in high school enrollment (9th-12th grade), we recommend visiting the Huntington Beach Union High School District website.

Returning FVSD Residents

If you are a resident of the Fountain Valley School District returning to the area, we want to welcome you and your child/children. To ensure a smooth transition, we are providing information about the registration process for the upcoming school year. If you're unsure of your home school, please utilize the School Locator found in the "District Info" drop-down menu or click here..

Enrollment for students for the 2024-25 school year will open for new enrollment, intradistrict transfers, and interdistrict transfers on the above dates. To initiate enrollment, please visit the school site and let the office team know you want to enroll in FVSD for the 2024-25 school year.

Transferring within FVSD Schools

If you reside in the Fountain Valley School District and wish to enroll in a school other than your designated home school, complete an Intra-District Transfer Form. Submit the form along with proof of residency documents to your home school. The period for Intra-District transfer requests is from February 1st to March 15, 2024.

Transferring to FVSD Schools

If you are a resident of another district but would like to attend a school in the Fountain Valley School District, please go to your home district and complete an Inter-District Transfer Request. If approved, the transfer request will be sent to FVSD. FVSD will notify you if your transfer is accepted based on available space at your requested school site. The District begins accepting transfer requests on March 1 for the following school year. Transfer requests for the current year are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Inter-district transfer agreements are valid only for the school year granted; the agreement expires at the end of each school year and must be renewed annually. Priority will be given to families that have submitted their Inter-District Transfer Forms by Friday, April 26, 2024.

Approval is subject to space availability in the District, at a school site, grade level, or within a specific program. An approved transfer into the District may not result in attendance at the site requested.

We anticipate that several FVSD schools will be impacted by the volume of Inter-District Transfer Requests for the 2024-25 school year, resulting in the need to conduct a lottery.

To be included in the lottery, Inter-District Transfer forms must be received by the FVSD Business Office by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024.
If there are more requests than spots available, the lottery will establish a waiting list for the school.
Any requests received after Friday, April 26, 2024, will be placed on the waiting list for consideration on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Inter-District Transfer agreement may be revoked at any time by the District for the following reasons:

The student is excessively tardy or absent from school, brought to school excessively early, or left excessively late.
The student has poor academic performance.
Student fails to uphold appropriate behavior standards.
Insufficient space in the school and/or grade level.
False or misleading information was provided.
Students or parents fail to follow school rules.

The District will (a) notify parents submitting a current year request of its final decision within 30 calendar days from the date the request was received and (b) notify parents submitting a future year request of its final decision as soon as possible, but no later than 14 calendar days after the beginning of the school year for which the transfer is requested.

In the event a transfer is denied, parents have the right to appeal to the Orange County Board of Education within 30 days of the denial.

Failure of a parent to adhere to the timelines established by the District shall be deemed an abandonment of the transfer request.

The information provided to Fountain Valley School District (FVSD), during the enrollment process will be used to determine that the student resides within the FVSD attendance boundaries, the school within those attendance boundaries to which the student will be assigned, and to identify unique educational programming services to which the student may be entitled. Information collected will be used for no other purpose, such as restricting or denying enrollment or treating a student differently in determining whether he or she satisfies any admission or enrollment criteria.
