Week 1 - Day 1

• Start a journal at home. Do you have a pet?  What things do you do with your pet?  If not, imagine you just got a new pet.  Write the sentence below and fill in the blanks.  

I have a pet ____________.  His/ her name is ____________ .  My ____________ is awesome because ______________ and _______________.

Be sure to use a capital letter at the beginning, correct spacing and a period at the end. Illustrate, too.

• Watch What is an Adjective? 
• Compare pictures using adjectives
• There are many words that can be used to describe each character.  In your journal, write at least 5 adjectives for each character:
• The girl
• The beast

 Remember, good readers often re-read text  The Tale of Two Beasts.

• In your journal, or use the paper to write a sentence about what happened during each part of the story and illustrate:

• Beginning
• Middle
• End

• Which feeling matches the picture?
• Illustrations help the reader understand a character’s feelings. Take a look at some of the illustrations from The Tale of Two Beasts.  
• In your journal, copy thesenence frames and fill in the blanks.

• I think the beast was feeling _____________ because _______________.
