West Orange County Consortium for Special Education - Community Advisory Committee (CAC)

 

The Community Advisory Committee, or CAC, is a group of parents, educators, and community members who are concerned with the educational needs of children with disabilities.  California is divided into areas called Special Education Local Plan Areas (SELPAs).  The CAC serves in an advisory capacity to the SELPA regarding community opinions, concerns, and suggestions pertaining to special education and related services to students with disabilities.

 

West Orange County Consortium for Special Education

The Fountain Valley School District is a member district of the WOCCSE SELPA, a consortium of local school districts that work collaboratively to provide high-quality programs and services for students with special needs.  Information related to the West Orange County Consortium for Special Education, as well as the Community Advisory Committee (CAC), is available through the following two websites:

West Orange County Consortium for Special Education - Community Advisory Committee (CAC)

The Community Advisory Committee, or CAC, is a group of parents, educators, and community members who are concerned with the educational needs of children with disabilities.  California is divided into areas called Special Education Local Plan Areas (SELPAs).  The CAC serves in an advisory capacity to the SELPA regarding community opinions, concerns, and suggestions pertaining to special education and related services to students with disabilities.

The governing body of WOCCSE is the Superintendents’ Council, which is composed of the superintendents from each of the five-member districts.

Members of the Superintendents’ Council are responsible to the governing boards of the local education agencies in the SELPA.  Policies and procedures adopted by the Council provide direction for all aspects of the SELPA, including uniform practices to be used by the member districts in the provision of special education programs and services outlined in the Local Plan.  The Council has fiscal responsibilities for reviewing and approving the WOCCSE budget and the allocation of special education funds to the member districts.  Meetings are held four times a year.
