- Read the text titled Reading to Max agan.
- Read this excerpt from the text. Think about how Ben is feeling at this moment. How do you know? How is Max feeling? What evidence from the text helps you know? Write down your thinking in your journal.
“Here’s my book,” Ben told Max. He had taken a book he’d been working on. He started reading, and Max purred. After a few minutes, Ben looked up. Some of the cats stayed on his classmates’ laps, but other cats roamed the room while the kids read.
- What kind of character is Ben? What kind of character is Max? Think of words, or traits, that describe them? Can you find evidence from the text to support your thinking?
