(Geography) Essential Question: 

How is our world organized?

• Take a look at this World Map- Continents with Oceans to become familiar with the location of the continents and oceans. See if you can name all seven continents and five oceans without looking. 
• Play World Geography Games- Continents to see if you can correctly identify all of the continents. 
• Play World Geography Games- Oceans to see if you can correctly identify all of the oceans.

(Geography) Essential Question: 

How is our world organized?

• Learn about 8 different types of maps that we will use to study the world by exploring this Interactive Map Activity.
• Watch the National Geographic video called Mapping the Stories of Our Planet to hear about the job of a cartographer. How has that field changed over time?

Week 1 - Day 3

(Geography) Essential Question: 

How is our world organized?

• Learn about Map Skills / Latitude and Longitude by watching this video. Think about how latitude and longitude give us absolute location, which helps us find our way around. 

• Review what you learned by listening to the Latitude & Longitude Song.

• Practice finding absolute location by playing the Coordinates Online Game.

(Geography) Essential Question: 

How is our world connected?

• Read about how geographers have organized the study of geography into the Five Themes of Geography (Location, Place, Human-Environment Interaction, Movement, Region).
• Watch the Five Themes of Geography video for specific details about each of the five themes. 
• How would you describe your hometown using the Five Themes of Geography?

Week 1 - Day 5

(Archaeology) Essential Question:

How do we learn about the past?

• Read the Archaeology Article and Images to learn about what archaeologists do to find out about other cultures. Also, examine the images of features and artifacts to get an idea of what the work of an archaeologist is like.
• Watch this National Geographic video about Early Civilization and Belief to see archaeologists explore how the birth of farming and the birth of religion may be connected.
