A Final Farewell Message From FVSD Superintendent Dr. Marc Ecker

As I complete the final packing of my work material and ready the office for our new superintendent, Dr. Mark Johnson, I do want to reflect just a bit on the absolutely wonderful 35 years in Fountain Valley, the last 18 ½ as your superintendent of schools. Please know that it has been an absolute joy to serve our most precious resource, our children, for over four decades during my career. Your support, encouragement and confidence have been the energy by which so many of our successes have been achieved. I am a lucky person to have served with so many outstanding trustees, talented teachers, committed support staff, a visionary management team and brilliant senior staff. How fortunate I am to walk out my door and meet here in our community so many advocates for our students.

Please know that although I am retiring from the office of superintendent, I remain a member of our Fountain Valley community and I most certainly will continue to advocate for the students our district serves. The Fountain Valley School District is in strong position academically and fiscally as we strive toward even greater accomplishments in the near future. There will be challenges to be sure, but under the visionary leadership of our new superintendent and his outstanding staff, the challenges ahead will be overcome and accolades will continue to come our way.

Let me end by once again thanking you for your partnership in helping us meet our mission, delivering the best quality instruction to each and every student. I do look forward to spending more time with my wife, children and five grandchildren, but I will without question miss seeing daily the wonderful people who contributed in making my work such a delight. Happy holidays to you all, a healthy and prosperous 2015 and as I often said leaving the office daily, “good bye and good luck”.
