Dr. Hinman previously led the West Covina Unified School District for six years as superintendent, prior to retiring in July 2021. He also served as Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education, site administrator and teacher in several notable districts across Orange County including Newport Mesa Unified, Saddleback Unified and Santa Ana Unified School Districts.
Lisa Schultz, President of the Fountain Valley School Board, remarked, “We are excited to have Dr. Hinman joining us. He is an outstanding educational leader with proven results. His leadership will help assure that our district continues its tradition of excellence while our Board of Trustees continues the superintendent search process.”
Charles Hinman reacted to his appointment, saying "I am honored to serve as the interim superintendent for the Fountain Valley School District and look forward to working collaboratively with the Board of Trustees, teachers, administrators, staff, parents and community members to provide an unparalleled foundation for our students. It is an exemplary district and I am grateful to be a part of the Fountain Valley Family during this transitionary period."
Dr. Hinman earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Montana State University, a master’s degree in administration from United States International University in San Diego and a doctorate in education administration from the University of Southern California.
