School News Roll Call Magazine highlights the excellence in our public schools. The quality of the public schools in a community sets the standard for the quality of the community. Everyone is a partner in the education of our youth through public education. The publication is now available in both English and Vietnamese.
Here is an excerpt from the current issue:
"If you step into a classroom today, you will notice something different. Alongside strong foundations in reading, writing, mathematics, history-social studies, and science, you’ll see students working together, asking thoughtful questions, and making connections to the world around them.
Learning today is not just about finding the right answer; it’s about thinking, exploring, and understanding. Students are building confidence as they explain their ideas, collaborate with classmates, and take on new challenges. While memorization still has its place, it is no longer the end goal.
We work to design experiences that help students develop communication skills, perseverance, and a deeper
understanding of what they are learning. These skills will serve them well both in school and beyond.
At home, one of the best ways to foster these skills and characteristics is by encouraging curiosity and
asking questions whose answers require explanation and understanding, as opposed to a rapid, recalled, and “right answer." Give it a try!
