FVSD Middle School Choirs Enjoy Exclusive Preview and Backstage Tour of APA’s Phantom of the Opera

Middle school choir students from Fulton, Masuda, and Talbert had a front-row seat to high-level performing arts thanks to a continued partnership between the Fountain Valley School District and the Huntington Beach Union High School District (HBUHSD).

Students were invited to Huntington Beach High School’s historic theater for a special teaser performance of the Academy for the Performing Arts (APA) production of The Phantom of the Opera. Following the performance, students took part in a backstage walkthrough, giving them an insider’s view of set design, production management, and the work required to put on a full-scale musical.

The performance hit close to home for FVSD, as the lead role of the Phantom is played by Talbert Middle School alumnus Luke Martucci. Watching a former district student step into a major lead role served as a strong point of inspiration for the young singers in attendance.

HB APA Phantom of the Opera

FVSD extends its heartfelt gratitude to HBUHSD and HB APA for inviting our students and supporting performing arts pathways for local youth. A clip highlighting Luke’s impressive vocal performance is currently featured on Talbert Middle School’s official Instagram page.
