Elementary & Secondary Schools Educational Relief

In response to the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the U.S. Congress passed the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act.  This federal stimulus funding is the third act of federal relief in response to COVID-19.  The primary funding source for local education agencies (LEAs) in the ARP Act is the Elementary & Secondary Schools Educational Relief Fund.

ESSER III funding is intended to help school districts implement strategies that (1) support continuous & safe in-person learning and (2) address the impact of lost instructional time.  In addition, ESSER III plans developed by districts are required to ensure access to actions for students disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic (i.e., low-income students, students of color, English learners and migratory students, children with disabilities, students experiencing homelessness, and children in foster care).

A formal ESSER III Plan development process, including input from educational partners, was required by the U.S. Department of Education.  FVSD initiated the ESSER III plan development process in August 2021 and presented the plan to the Board of Education for consideration.   The FVSD Board of Trustees approved the plan as presented as part of the October 21, 2021, meeting.
