Welcome, Parents to Fountain Valley School District

FVSD welcomes families enrolling in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten for the 2026–27 school year.

New TK/Kindergarten Kickoff Event: Thursday, February 19, at 1:30 p.m. at each of our seven elementary schools. Please use our school locator to determine which school is your school of residence based on your home address.

Fountain Valley School District wants every child to be prepared for success in school and life. Our TK/Kindergarten programs serve as the launching pad for those successes. The District takes pride in offering all children an engaging, rigorous, and enjoyable learning experience. The Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten teachers at FVSD are dedicated to implementing a standards-aligned instructional program in technologically advanced classrooms while also supporting social-emotional development.

Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) serves as a bridge between preschool and kindergarten for children who turn 4 on or before September 1, 2026, for the 2026-27 school year. It is the first part of a two-year kindergarten program aimed at laying a strong foundation for success in school. FVSD's TK program supports children in developing the academic, social, and emotional skills they need to thrive in kindergarten and beyond. This program is a full-day program.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten is available for children who turn 5 on or before September 1, 2026. This program provides a rigorous learning experience driven by California State Standards. FVSD's kindergarten classrooms provide a structured setting with both whole-group and small-group instruction. Teachers focus on differentiating instruction to meet each child's individual needs. FVSD's kindergarten is also a full-day program.

Birthday Criteria (2026–27)

• TK: 9/02/2021–9/01/2022

• Kindergarten: 9/02/2020–9/01/2021
