TK & Kindergarten

Welcome Parents to Fountain Valley School District. We are excited to invite Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten parents to join our community for the 2024-2025 school year!
Fountain Valley School District wants every child to be prepared for success in school and life, and our TK/Kindergarten programs are designed to serve as the launching pad for those successes. The District takes great pride in offering all children an engaging, rigorous, and enjoyable learning experience. The Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten teachers at FVSD are committed to supporting each student's academic success by implementing a rigorous, standards-aligned instructional program within technologically advanced classrooms. Additionally, a strong focus is on guiding children through their initial schooling years and supporting their social-emotional development.

FVSD offers two programs to help meet students' needs: a kindergarten program for students turning 5 before September 1 and a Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program for students with birthdays between September 2 and June 2 starting the 2024-2025 school year.
Transitional Kindergarten (TK)
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is a bridge between preschool and kindergarten for children turning 5 years old between September 2 and June 2 for the 2024-25 school year. It is the first of a two-year kindergarten program designed to build a solid foundation for success in school for "younger" five-year-olds. FVSD's Transitional Kindergarten program assists children in developing the academic, social, and emotional skills they will need to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. FVSD's Transitional Kindergarten is also a full-day program.
Kindergarten is available at all seven FVSD elementary school sites and provides children with a rigorous learning experience driven by California State Standards. This program offers a structured learning environment that allows for both whole-group and small-group instruction, with an emphasis on differentiating instruction to meet the needs of each learner. FVSD's kindergarten is a full-day program.
