Carmen Serna joins FVSD Family as Director, Human Resources

Ms. Serna joins FVSD following a nearly 22-year career with Fullerton School District (FSD).  With FSD, she was a school office manager, Confidential Administrative Assistant in the Personnel Division and finally Executive Assistant to the Superintendent, a position she has held since 2009.  Prior to her work with FSD, Ms. Serna served as a human resources manager in the business services industry.

As Assistant Superintendent, Personnel, Mrs. Cathie Abdel explained, “We are thrilled to have Ms. Serna join our District.  Carmen’s passion is for people and her commitment is to our staff.  It is evident that she puts the utmost value on student success and understands the vital role our classified employees play in all FVSD students achieving academic excellence. We are confident in her ability to continue the great work of our District and welcome her to the FVSD Family.”

I am excited to work side by side with our amazing staff members, making a difference in the lives of all students.”

Ms. Serna earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in Human Resources Management from California State University, Fullerton and her master’s degree in educational administration from Pepperdine University.  Family is of great importance to Carmen and she enjoys time with her husband, Hugo, and three children, in addition to her extended family.
